New kicks are always on my radar, Trudi Brewer check out the latest looks from local sneaker brand, Deuce.
Confession: I am sneaker-obsessed. And my latest is the Gracie pink star-studded (soon to be launched) sneaker, from local brand Deuce. The sensible sister to Mi Piaci and Merchant 1948 have set up a temporary home on Auckland's luxe-y shopping strip Teed Street in Newmarket. The summer collection is rolling out over the next few weeks, and the latest styles are gorgeous. Deuce was founded in 2007, and is sporting a design facelift this season, while the classics remain, the new spring/summer collection has a touch of sparkle. From bold colour, lilac with ruffles, embellished monochrome and sunset shades of yellow, orange and pink, here is something for everyone from the fashion-obsessed to those who covet more classic styles. Oh, and did I mention comfort - looks aren't everything right; Deuce sneakers feature dual-density, and moisture-wicking DualCore footbeds, technology found in athletic footwear. They also offer targeted support for comfort and wear, as well as a clever freshness innersole that can be thrown in the washing machine. All of that may mean nothing to you right now, but once you slip your feet into these kicks, you will not want to wear anything else. Finally, it's timely that the brand opened their doors during Mental Health Awareness Week, with a pretty impressive charity initiative. Since 2014, Deuce has donated $5 from every purchase (who knew) to their Young Hearts Project that works with Youthline, KidsCan and Great Potentials charities that supports young teens who are struggling with life, and much of this money goes toward the prevention of youth suicide. To date they have raised over $900,000- this is worth shouting about don't you think?
