Ronald McDonald House Charities

We all live such busy lives and taking time out to give back is something most of us would love to do, but struggle to find the time. Well, the team at BeautyEQ did just that and scheduled a morning out of the office to give some of their time and culinary skills to the very worthy Ronald McDonald House Charities.

There are so many worthy charities in New Zealand and most need the help from others to do a job that changes peoples lives. Ronald McDonald House is one of those organisations that are focused on keeping families close and kids happy, while going through a life-changing illness. That job involves helping families with the most basic of needs and one of those is a home-cooked meal. This charity rmhc.org.nz supports New Zealand families across the country in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. And for those outside of Auckland who need to travel to Starship for care they can stay throughout their child or children's treatment, so they are close to the hospital. For some families they live in this house for months at a time, often with the entire extended family moving in. Ronald McDonald House Charities provides accommodation, support and home comforts like meals and play areas close to the wards.
So as part of our health and wellness series, we put our cooking skills to the test and made lunch for those families with some help from our gorgeous friend Krista Dudson-Poole who cooks for these families every Wednesday. On the day we met our star helper, Holly Tiatia who is staying in the house with her family from Christchurch and couldn't resist whipping up a batch of muffins or two with editor Trudi Brewer. To help out another way that we know best, we asked some of our friends from the beauty industry to help us put together 50 goodie bags for the mums and children as a home away from home beauty treat to brighten their day.
A big thank you to RMHC for allowing us to be part of your fantastic charity albeit only for a morning. Also a thanks for those who supported our moment of giving back with some great beauty products and finally to my team who did me proud.

A big shout our to the brands that gave generously so we could fill the goodies bags with beauty treats for the families, Pure Fiji, Regional Health, Burt's Bees, OGX, Tangle TeezerLittle Miss, MOR Cosmetics, Revlon and Bobbi Brown. And the gorgeous Richie Stott of Propel Brands who gave his time so generously, including a mercy dash for extra greens to create a healthy huge salad - thanks Richie.

If you have the time and want to give back, this is one charity that would love your help.
