How to get bed-head looking hair

Do you hate the feeling of loads of product in your hair, but love it when it looks gritty, with lots of texture - you're not alone. Trudi Brewer reveals how with a little heat styling, luxurious hair care and easy styling tips you can get some amazing movement in your hair.

Short hair

With short hair, your styling options are influenced by the cut. Ask your stylist to chop invisible layers into your style. This adds texture and movement, which means you need less styling product. Apply light-hold pomade gels with your fingers and massage the product into the roots of your hair. To boost fine hair spritz in a dry shampoo - this helps to give that slept-in look to your style.

Medium-length hair

If you're sporting natural curl reach for texturising sprays and lotions to style hair. Let your hair air dry, and then add the product. If your hair is straight use a curling iron to add soft waves. For very curly hair encourage wave by using a diffuser on your hair dryer, then when hair is dry apply a little frizz control cream to encourage messy texture and prevent the frizz.

Long hair

A cocktail of sea salt spray and leave-in conditioner will be the best styling combo you could use. Taking random sections of hair and winding it around a hot tong will add definition in your hair. Switch the direction of each curl, curl one section toward the face, and the next away from the face, you want to avoid the curl looking too uniform.
