Summer sun calls for a fragrance refresh. Editor Trudi Brewer does some blue-sky thinking with the latest scent from Abercrombie & Fitch.
Abercrombie & Fitch First Instinct Blue Women, from $68.
What is it?
First Instinct Blue is a bright and breezy interpretation of the original First Instinct fragrance for women from cult American clothing brand Abercrombie & Fitch. Inspired by the brand’s adventurous outdoorsy image, the scent is vibrant and optimistic and conveys a youthful lust for life.
What’s in it?
Refreshing salted sea air and crisp bergamot accords are joined by blackberry to create a feminine freshness that is underpinned by warm and velvety apricot nectar, blooming jasmine and peony. Base notes of woody patchouli, vanilla and sandalwood provide a contrasting creamy finish.
Why do we like it?
As the summer months approach, this is a fragrance that makes you want to breathe deeply and fill your lungs with fresh air. I can imagine wearing this on a day trip to a Waiheke winery or at a barefoot beach wedding. In short, it’s a scent that will bring a smile to your face – who can ask for more than that?
Abercrombie & Fitch First Instinct Blue Women from, $68.
It’s woody and sexy, fresh and youthful all at once. Thanks to the crisp, summery blend of bergamot and jasmine with creamy sandalwood you get a honey-like finish. For anyone who's not a sweet floral fragrance devotee, this is a refreshing change from the sea of sugary scents out there right now.
