Thanks to formulations forever improving in the hair world, an at-home hair treatment can fight that frizz factor. While in-salon treatments will always have a place for controlling your mane, keratin-infused products are more accessible than ever and work to reduce static, fluffy fly-aways and ultimately tame that style-destroying frizz.

LOTIONS

Light and milky, lotions are great for those with a medium texture to their hair. Most of these formulas won't weigh down once smoothed into the hair with heat, and the liquid-like texture glides through hair making ensuring every strand is coated.

Top tip: If you suffer with an oily scalp, avoid applying lotions into the root area. Apply to the mid-lengths and ends and any residual product on your palms can be patted onto the crown area.

SPRAYS

All too often smoothing products can be a nightmare for those of us with fine hair. Often a heavier cream, while doing its job of smoothing, unfortunately, will also weigh your style down. This is where a spray comes in handy and they are also great for busy girls on the go. A quick spritz post heat styling is all baby fine hair needs to stay smooth.

Top tip: With the combination of my fine, and platinum colour, I like to spritz a small amount of spray onto my fingers and apply to pieces of my hair that need smoothing, rather than spraying my entire head of hair.

Hask Keratin Protein Smoothing Shine Oil, $12. ghd Straight & Smooth Spray, $28. Living Proof No Frizz Weightless Styling Spray, $60. Kevin Murphy Staying Alive Treatment, $45.

MASKS

The most wavy locks will benefit from using a mask. These offer the most concentrated smoothing formulation, designed to be a heavy-hitting, intense treatment to tame frizz and seal the hairs cuticle, which prevents further fluffiness. These thicker butter-like balms provide a deep conditioning, hydrating treatment and ideal to use as a weekly hair treat.

Top tip: The most unruly of locks will really benefit from a weekly hair mask - pop it on damp hair, comb it through and leave on for at least 10 minutes before rinsing off thoroughly.
