If you're not feeling the effects of our recent cold snap, your skin will be - and I can promise you it won't like it. Editor Trudi Brewer shares the latest range from spa brand Osmosis and how it's designed to keep our skin calm and to feel cocooned.
Just landed in spas and skin clinics is a new moisturising collection from Osmosis. The idea behind the range is to feed your skin with essentials such as fatty acids, phytosterols (natural fats) vitamins, and minerals with a generous helping of medicinal plant extracts for their antioxidant benefits. The result a skincare range that targets what keeps skin looking youthful - hydration. Here's how this range protects the vital barrier function, (the outer layer) of your skin to keep moisture in and irritation out.
The range
Osmosis Organic Facial Oil, $99.
One word describes this oil, heavenly. A severe oil junkie, I am a fan of how quickly cold pressed oils will improve the skin and leave it feeling smooth and looking luminous. The genius blend of raspberry seed, avocado and seabuckthorn oils in this formula, nourish dry skin. One pump (we love the travel-friendly bottle) will hydrate the face and neck - it's the perfect night time skin treat.
Osmosis Lift Away Cleansing Balm, $82.
A tiny amount of this luxurious balm used as your nighttime cleanser melts onto the skin to lift away stubborn makeup and grime, and that is all thanks to the line up of avocado oil, elderberry and mangosteen juice. A little of this cleanser goes a long way.
Osmosis Enrich Restorative Night Cream, $119.
A winner in the range, the raspberry seed oil instantly nourishes tired, dry skin. The immediate soothing effect is made better by the line up of heavy-hitting antioxidants including blueberry fruit extract and Swertia Chirata leaf extract. Found in the Himalayas this leaf is used in Ayurvedic medicine for treating liver disorders, malaria, and diabetes. Once in skincare, it's strengthening properties help add radiance to a dull-looking complexion.
Osmosis Remedy Healing Balm, $99.
We all have dry, sensitive spots on the face or body that need a healing salve to nourish the skin back to health. This cream was created to do just that. Its healing powers are thanks to the combination of Shea butter, wild cherry bark extract, and Gotu Kola leaf. Used in traditional Chinese medicine this leaf treats a range of health issues from depression to bacterial infections, however, once whipped into a soft cream, you can expect this ingredient to protect against irritation and soothe fragile skin. Ideal post invasive skin treatments such as laser resurfacing or for healing minor chapping or sensitivities it's what we call a creamy, rescue remedy in a pot.
Why we like it?
We have some of the most changeable weather here in New Zealand. From humidity in the North Island to the dry, chilly air of the South Island. When your skin is hydrated, there is less chance of it wrinkling or becoming sensitive, not to mention how much better it adjusts to air conditioning, temperature change and the effects of hot showers. If your skin is begging for moisture, this is a serious skincare range that delivers naturally.
