Eau Thermale Avène TriAcnèal Expert Emulsion, $35.

What's in it?
An apricot-tinted nighttime facial moisturiser that works to correct pimples and wrinkles simultaneously. It contains a blend of exfoliating ingredients such as X-Pressin, a natural enzyme extract found in papaya that gently buffs blemish marks and dark spots from the skin. While diolènyl reduces the acne-making bacteria and stops it from spreading, calming redness simultaneously. Also, the heavy-hitting retinaldehyde, or vitamin A derivative, unblocks pores and speeds up your skin’s natural skin turnover. These ingredients are whipped into the soothing mineral-rich water in all the Avène products. High in silicates, it helps soothe sensitivity and elevate dryness.
Why do we like it?
It absorbs in seconds and has an excellent hydrating texture, unlike many cosmeceutical face creams that don't always have a pleasant sensory feel. It's hardworking and smells great, too - one week down, and I am impressed by the first signs of clarity on my skin.
How to apply it?
Cleanse makeup and ensure the skin is completely dry before massaging two pumps to moisturise the face and neck; always avoid the lips and eye area. If tingling occurs (this is to be expected), it's the vitamin A working its magic speeding up the skin cell turnover. Always wear an SPF when using this moisturiser, and avoid using this cream if you're pregnant.
