5 things you need to know about Shiseido's Ultimune

Hi, my name is Trudi Brewer, and I'm a Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate addict. Here are five reasons to try this incredible pre-serum concentrate.

What makes it different to other serums?

For starters, it's a pre-serum, and you can use it with all the other products in your routine, after cleansing. Then it makes everything else you put on your skin much more effective. The updated formula has been enhanced by a blend of botanical extracts including reishi mushroom, known as the 'mushroom of immortality’ it has been used in Chinese medicine for over 2000 years.  This and iris root extract together work to enhance and support the skin’s immune system, strengthening its ability to defend itself against our harsh environment.

What ingredients are in Ultimune?

Mushroom and iris root extracts both are powerful anti-oxidants. Once these ingredients are blended with polysaccharides (sugar proteins), they hydrate and firm the skin from the inside out. The addition of Bulgarian rose water, yeast extract, gingko, biloba leaf extract, shiso, and thyme boost the clarity and further calm and nourish the skin. That lineup is sweetened by the delicate green fragrance, courtesy of rose and lotus flower.

Is it worth splurging on this serum?

I am the first to say that super expensive skincare is not always your best option. It’s more important to use skincare that is tailored to your skin type, and its specific needs. Every woman should aim for healthy-looking, skin that can cope with the day to day stresses of life. Ultimune is your insurance policy against free-radical damage. It fits effortlessly into any routine and can be layered over other products to help boost their effectiveness. So as an investment in the health of your skin for life, yes.

Who can use Ultimune?

Anyone, at any age or any gender, and any skin type or ethnicity. By the time you reach 40, your skin has lost 50 per cent of its natural hyaluronic acid – a liquid-like gel your body makes to keep skin looking hydrated and smooth. Four out of the five wrinkles you see on your face is due to external aggressors such as pollution, smoking and stress. Ultimune steps in to eliminate harmful toxins and rejuvenate your skin, protecting and strengthening your complexion from our harsh urban lifestyle, keeping irritants out and moisture in.

Why would I switch to Utiminue?

Don’t be scared to try new skincare, your skin will enjoy a burst of new ingredients, it’s almost like a workout for your face. Don't miss out on the powerful, firming or lifting benefits of Ultimune - you will be surprised and delighted by how quickly you see the firming and brightening results.

How do you apply Ultimune?

Morning and evening after cleansing and before you apply serums or moisturisers. Pump twice, onto the palm of the hand, warm the concentrate, and then smooth it evenly over the face and neck. I also press Ulitmiune over my makeup during the day to refresh the look of tired, dehydrated skin, and then you can reapply extra makeup.
