Nails are big business - from gels to acrylic, lacquer and foils and now a luxe-y DIY glue on a nail that looks uber-natural. Editor Trudi Brewer reviews a new nail system you can apply quickly, at home.
What is Teddy Lane?
A luxe-y DIY, reusable manicure system, available online and across the country at the retailer, Farmers. They're flexible and fashionable and they come in a range of natural-looking lengths, shades and shapes. From glitter to something more mainstream, they simply glue on over your natural nails and can be shaped or shortened to suit your fashion taste. They are also vegan and cruelty-free.
Who's behind the brand?
Teddy Lane is designed in New Zealand, by Wellington-based mother and daughter team – Sandra and Lauren Banks. This nail obsessed duo searched for a quality DIY range of reusable nails, and after no luck decided to design their own. The rest they say is history.
How do they work?
Non-damaging, pop-on nails that take minutes to apply. The kit contains a file, tinted-pink glue and DIY instructions. In each kit there are 24 reusable nails in 12 different sizes, so you are covered regardless of your nail size and length. Finally, you choose a short-term wear or 10 days of a perfect-looking mani depending on the amount of glue you apply.
How do you remove them?
No soaking in acetone or buffing, soak your fingers in hot water, the glue breaks down and the nail pops off.
The price?
From $25 for classic and matte designs. Or $29 for bejewelled, and the nail-art style designs.
