From liquid to matte and the traditional bullet, here's the latest lipstick to covet this season.
Top tips
When it comes to on-trend colour, the bolder, the better this season. 80's-inspired brights are making a comeback with fuchsia and classic red the standout colours. While clever liquid lipsticks are still on trend, the traditional bullet in a satin or cream finish is also back in popular demand.
When choosing the ultimate red lip colour, a good guide to follow is to aim for an orange-based hue if you have a warm, olive, skin tone, and a blue-based cherry lip shades if your skin is porcelain, or fair.
For a flattering neutral that can become your everyday colour, experts say nature knows best and you can be guided by the colour of your areola's or nipples.
Or follow these rules: Those with fair skin opt for a rose-based nude. Medium skin tones, choose a peach-coloured nude. And for those with a dark skin colouring, go for a brown or bronze nude.
For stand out shimmer, a metallic finish is the biggest trend to watch out for. From glitter to sparkle these shiny products are ideal worn as lip gloss. A matte finish is still on trend, in a liquid form, which makes it so easy to apply and long-lasting without feeling dry once on the lips.
And finally to keep lipstick in place and to prevent colour bleeding into the lines, remember if your lips are dry your lipstick has nothing to stick to. Applying a lip balm regularly between lipstick applications, this helps with longevity. And you could try a colourless lip liner, these are brilliant for keeping your lipstick within the lip line and to help prevent colour from creeping into the fine lines. Try Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Lip Pencil in Clear, $54.
