According to Dermalogica, there is a ‘vital connection between the mind and skin health,” says the head of education for the brand in New Zealand Caroline Parker. “We’re always on the go, and like many other things we rush through our daily bathing routines, forgetting the longstanding significance and restorative power of this daily ritual.” Parker believes bathing should be a meditative, reflective part of daily life. “Meditation has been shown to reduce stress levels - lower stress promotes skin health - not just for the face but for the skin on the entire body.” New to the skincare line up are four products for cleansing, hydrating and exfoliating the skin. Here are two we have trialled.

Dermalogica Thermafoliant Body Scrub, $82.

What’s in it?

The action of this warming body scrub, that heats up on the skin immediately, is designed to buff your way to a brighter-looking skin. The combination of Indian bamboo stem, papaya extract and sea salt blended in the base of tea tree and grapefruit peel oils gently removes any flakey skin, while the blend of licorice, white tea, coffeeberry, and chamomile, is a great antioxidant boost.

Dermalogica Phyto Replenish Body Oil, $99.

What’s in it?

The ingredients in this ultra-lightweight oil were blended to create a feeling of calm. The scent is a mix of bergamot, neroli, orange, patchouli and sandalwood, in a base of French plum seed, avocado, and sunflower seed oils. The addition of red ginseng is the boost your skin needs to get glowing - fast.

Why do we like it?

It's no secret that buffing and oiling the skin is a timeless beauty ritual. And one that does keep your skin feeling smooth and looking youthful. But let's face it; most of us are slack at giving the skin our body as much love as we do our face. If your ultimate goal this summer is to have glowing skin, then a little loving care from this body duo may get you there. The Body Scrub warms on contact and helps to brighten dull-looking skin, and it's brilliant for removing that week old faded self-tan. The sheen the Body Oil leaves the skin absorbs in seconds and has the most addictive citrus-inspired scent. Make some room on your beauty shelf for this body glow-giving combination - it's worth the price, and you deserve to treat yourself.
