Jean Paul Gaultier La Belle & Le Beau

Inspired by the Garden of Eden and created by French perfumers Quentin Bisch and Sonia Constant, the latest new scents from JPG were both inspired by existing scents, the women's Classique and the men's Le Mâle. Read on to find out more says editor Trudi Brewer.

Both perfumers chose exotic ingredients to create two delicious perfumes. "The vanilla used in the women's fragrance evokes, from the beginning to the end, the forbidden fruit of the Garden of Eden," Bisch told media at the launch. Who adds: “The men's Le Beau, is fresh, energetic, and an exotic cocktail of green foliage and coconut water, embellished with creamy almond tonka bean, and dry wood effect you can detect in the female version. There is no dramatic twist here: bergamot is fresh and optimistic, salty notes are present and evoke holidays, and the coconut note encourages relaxation." Here’s what’s in both new scents.

Perhaps the most beautiful bottle of all the new summer scents, La Belle, is the perfect representation of the female form. Dressed in siren red, and adorned in a necklace of gold roses, it's a pure Oriental scent laced with vanilla, crisp, green vetiver, and sour pear.

Jean Paul Gaultier Le Beau, 75ml, $124.

This woody scent combines fresh bergamot, and a touch of decadent, sweet spice.

The vivid emerald green is the perfect complement to La Belle's risky red, dressed only with a golden vine leaf where he needs it most; this woody scent combines fresh bergamot, and a touch of decadent, sweet spice. But it’s the creamy blend of coconut wood and delicious tonka bean that makes it irresistible. Like most of us first impressions often pique your interest with a new perfume. From the designer, Jean Paul Gaultier on his instant "These two are made to succumb to temptation!" We could not have said it better ourselves.
