How to wear denim

Today denim is a staple in my wardrobe. It's acceptable for meetings, the office, and after five. And now I know my style and fit when it comes to jeans they are super flattering. Here are my latest best buys and how to style them with new season styles, says Trudi Brewer.

Top tip: It happens to the best of us, on those days when your jeans feel a little tight lay them flat after washing and pull on the waistband when they’re damp. To add stretch, tug on the wet waistband while blasting it with a hairdryer, or go over it with a very hot, steamy iron.

Top tip: If you have the patience to try on a denim skirt in the store, use the neck measurement method. Place the waistline around the diameter of your neck, if it fits comfortably (meets at the back of your neck), it will fit your waist.

Top Tip: Treat your jeans with TLC. You can wash them too much; I only wash jeans when they have a stain or begin to appear saggy. To refresh your jeans hang them outside, turned inside out in the sunshine for a few hours. Or place them in a plastic bag and put in your freezer for overnight.
