Once the temperature drops, I like to wear layers. Cashmere, with denim, and soft cotton with leather, my go-to wardrobe for winter is warm, casual with a chic twist. And so is my perfume. Slightly spicy, think warm and musky. Editor Trudi Brewer shares a Gucci creation you must sniff.
Just in time for winter, Gucci are turning up the heat with their latest floral perfume, here's why we love it…
Gucci Guilty Pour Femme Eau de Parfum from, $150
What is it?
It's classed as a floral Oriental in fragrance circles, or to quote Gucci, it's an 'aromatic fougère'. However, to the untrained nose, (including myself) the unique hint of citrus, violet, and lilac give it a delicate, freshness.
What's in it?
This is a floral fragrance, but how it is made makes it unique. Being eau de parfum, it already has an intense edge, however the potent citrus blossom oil from the mandora fruit. A citrus found in the Mediterranean island of Cyprus it’s a cross between a mandarin and orange, and is what gives this scent a subtle sweetness with a crisp bite. That citrus blends perfectly with pink pepper and the old -fashioned combination of lilac and violet (both uber-trendy in fragrance making right now), and this is what you smell after a hours of wear. Finally, the musky warmth is courtesy of a duo of patchouli oils distilled in a way that they offer up an intriguing sensual, ambery aroma.
Why do we like it?
Fragrance must make you smell great, but it's also essential that it makes you feel good too. This exceptionally pretty floral ticks lots of boxes, with its irresistible charm. Here's why: It's floral, most women like that, but it's also powdery and musky which I am addicted to in a winter fragrance. It helps that it's branded with the GG, everything Gucci does it for me right now. And finally, it's very sexy once spritzed onto warm skin. But it's also fresh thanks to the mandora bite. What has sealed the deal for me is the blend of lilac and violet, making it modern, and minimal. Just like the fashion - and while I am lusting after a new GG Arli shoulder bag, I'm also adding this new fragrance to my most wanted list for the chilly season ahead.
