Gucci Guilty Pour Homme Cologne

Not a new idea, women have been wearing men's scent for years. According to editor Trudi Brewer - it's a French tradition - even when you're wearing Italian perfume.

The 'French' way of wearing scent, is to embrace what you love, regardless of gender. It's all about individuality. French women care less about fragrance trends and more about where to spray on a scent and finding a fragrance that reflects their true style. For the French, fragrance shopping is much like discovering a fine wine, it’s all about personal preference - and if the perfume you’re drawn to happens to be for men - Ainsi soit-il (so be it).

This fragrance speaks to the notion of living in a gender-neutral world where you can embrace whatever style you wish. For me, that notion means I am spoilt for choice when it comes to scent. Homme or Femme - I am open to both.

Gucci Guilty Pour Homme Cologne, $120

First up this new cologne (while Italian, not French) is made by one of the sexiest fashion brands on the planet. I am a slave to those GG's, and I am proud of that. Also, right now the style duo behind this brand creative director Alessandro Michele's, and Gucci's, master perfumer Alberto Morillas are a design marriage made in heaven, and this new fragrance is an excellent example of that.

What is in it?

From the very first spritz, the blend of bergamot, rosemary, and tart juniper berry gives this cologne a crisp edge. It quickly reveals another green blast thanks to Spanish cypress, heliotropin (a synthetic aldehyde to mimic the heliotrope flower which smells like the herb borage)- then it shows a softer side. Delicate violet gives this scent a musky heart. All these ingredients are commonly found in women's perfume, which is why this new fragrance has unisex appeal. And, as if you need convincing further, the final blend, the aroma you are left with hours later is warm and sexy, thanks to patchouli, cedar, and my all-time favourite ingredient, white musk.

Why do I like it?

For all of the reasons listed above, this garden-fresh fragrance with a musky bite is gorgeous. The elegant clean-looking bottle with a vintage flask-like vibe fits perfectly in my hand. This fragrance speaks to the notion of living in a gender-neutral world where you can embrace whatever style you wish. For me, that notion means I am spoilt for choice when it comes to scent. Homme or Femme - I am open to both.
