Crowd Blend

We're wine enthusiasts here at BeautyEQ, and when we were invited to become budding winemakers, we had to share this opportunity. Editor Trudi Brewer gets up to some mischief.

The Hunting Lodge crowd blend

Wine is subjective. From the vintage to the style of wine you enjoy, what you like to drink is very personal. It’s also one of life’s little pleasures - fine wine and delicious food is central to enjoying life. For the team at BeautyEQ shared with friends a glass of crisp pinot gris or full-bodied rosè is one of pure joy. Which is why we wanted to share this latest news from The Hunting Lodge. The venue, for our next location of Fashion in the Vines, on September 28th, this West Auckland vineyard is set in the country out in Waimauku. Not only does is serve some spectacular wines, including the Impressions range, and a new on-trend Project X Orange wine. This city escape offers exquisite garden to table cuisine matched by winemaker Pete Turner who again, this summer is encouraging budding blenders (last year it was a rosè) to try their hand at winemaking with a crowd blend known as ‘White Mischief’.

The challenge

Create your own unique blend of wine, made from three base white wines, all secret white varieties that allow you to create your own signature blend. This is the month to order a crowd blending kit online, and test your wine making skills here

The first step, register

Registrations are $30 per person, and you will receive a blending pack of three blending white wines in 375ml bottles here.

Get blending

Once you have your crowd blend box, smell, taste and mix up what you consider the perfect blend of summer-inspired white wine. Make sure to note these on your blending card (that comes with the pack) when submitting your final blend.

The finishing touch

Simply submit your entry by posting a pic on one of your social media accounts with the bottle and the blending card. Tag @the_hunting_lodge and add #crowdblend to go in the draw to win the grand prize. Finally, once all blends have been examined, and a signature blend created by head winemaker Pete Turner, your name will be printed on the label and you will receive a bottle of the winning 2019 White Mischief crowd blend. Not only is it fun, it’s a great way to test your taste buds and get inspired by a summer of enjoying a glass of fine white wine. As well as your name printed on the bottle, there is a weekend at the winery valued of $2000 to win - so get blending. Learn more below.

The winner will be announced on Monday the 14th of October 2019.

Crowd Blend is only available to New Zealand residents aged over 18 years and is limited to one registration per person.
