Chloé Nomade Absolu de Parfum

When Chloès first Nomade, hit shelves in 2018, it caused quite a stir. Not only because it was a new fragrance pillar for the brand, (a chypre, scent, a departure from the signature rose-based Chloè fragrances popular with beauty devotees). It was a nod to the famous Drew handbag, a fashion accessory on the ‘hit list’ for most women who love the brand. Now there is a new Nomade called Absolu de Parfum, and it’s hit shelves just in time for our cold snap, says editor Trudi Brewer. Read why she thinks it’s an ideal perfume to wear in winter?

What’s in it?

Perfumer Quentin Bisch calls this newbie a modern, fruity chypre scent. At the heart of this fragrance is the herb Davana, which has a tea-like smell, reminiscent of dried fruit, along with oakmoss. Those ingredients mixed with mirabelle plum, sandalwood and musk, give it warmth and longevity. Like the first Nomade, the bottle is a nod to the Chloè Drew handbag, with a studded lid, and tan, suede tassel.

What do we like about it?

I love designer scents, for being that affordable entry into a luxe-y brand. While I may not be purchasing the mini Marcie round saddle bag in grain calfskin this season, a new piece of Chloè in my perfume wardrobe is enough to satisfy my yearning for a designer fashion fix. Back to how it smells on the skin, the blend of plum and oak moss offers a contrast of sweet, freshness, while the smooth, creamy sandalwood and musk give it a robust, full-bodied, warmth—precisely the kind of fragrance I want to wear in winter. Layered under cashmere and leather, it’s ideal, which brings me to how long it lasts on the skin, 12 hours to be exact - tested by me.
