L'Interdit EDP Intense

Rich in history and full of potent ingredients, the new Givenchy scent is elegant and intense, says editor Trudi Brewer. Find out why it will turn heads this summer.

GIVENCHY L'INTERDIT EDP INTENSE

The most unforgettable fragrance always comes with a romantic story. And what better collaboration than a movie star and owner of a luxury fashion and perfume house - Givenchy. The original L'Interdit dates back to 1957, it was made for Audrey Hepburn, a Hollywood star, by Hubert de Givenchy, a fashion guru. Givenchy made Hepburn a signature perfume, and when he asked her permission to market the fragrance so women worldwide could wear it, she playfully replied, Je vous l'interdis, which in English means I forbid you. The fragrance name L'Interdit was born. Fast forward to 2018; that forbidden fragrance did make it onto the wrists of other women, and the third interpretation - is intense. Read on to learn more.

Givenchy L'interdit EDP Intense, from $125.

Known as an Oriental, woody, floral, in perfume circles, this fragrance lives up to the brand’s description. "An intense Oriental floral of uncompromising elegance.”

What’s in it

Sweet orange blossom, and fresh green vetiver, with an overdose of tuberose. Followed by the voluptuous blend of patchouli and vanilla. Finally what makes it unique, is the dash of salty, roasted sesame.

Why do we like it?

You will stand out wearing this scent. It’s refined, and like a designer dress, it gets attention. Despite the blackout packaging, it’s full of one of my favourite flowers - tuberose. A bold white bloom, which smells like a bouquet of spring flowers, with a touch of honey. It’s feminine and unforgettable, and while it’s called an intense or EDP (Eau de parfum), it’s definitely softer than I expected. If you love the original L'Interdit, this new intense version is perfect to wear at night. Or if you love a heady floral with a dash of sweet vanilla, then like Hepburn keep the name of this scent to yourself, it could become your new signature perfume.
