If you are on the hunt for affordable supplements and skincare, Trudi Brewer shares NZ made brand me|today, find out if it lives up to the hype.
Behind some of the most popular natural health and wellness brands, is always a good brand back story, and the home-grown wellness company me|today is no exception. The brand offers a range of skincare called 'women's daily' and 'protect', and a core range of supplements. They are simple and effective and the packaging is beautiful. But most importantly, they’re formulated, designed and made in New Zealand. With highly absorbable formulas, using local and imported ingredients, and where possible, they’re either vegetarian or vegan-friendly. You will find the brand at Life Pharmacies and Unichem stores across the country, and after the devastating effects of COVID-19 on our economy, it's time to support New Zealand brands and shop local. So who is behind me|today? The brand is the brainchild of founder's Grant Baker, Stephen Sinclair, and Michael Kerr. They collectively have pretty good-looking CV's when it comes to start-ups, including the success-story of Vodka brand 42 Below, to the candle company Ecoya, (as well as Ecoya's acquisition of natural skincare giant Trilogy). And right now, with New Zealand women's obsession with natural health, I think they are onto a winner.
Before you make any decisions on what to buy, check out my faves.
me|today Beauty Hair, Skin & Nails Health, $40.
The name piqued my attention immediately, and then the lineup of ingredients sold me. Vitamin C, and collagen, boost fullness in the hair and encourage firmer skin, while the biotin helps strengthen weak nails to reduce peeling and breaking, all you need to do is take one capsule a day.
me|today Women's Daily Micellar Gel, $20.
Got to love micellar water, it's a magnet for makeup and oil, and lifts grime from the skin in minutes. This micellar gel does a great job of removing eye makeup, without harsh rubbing, and leaving your skin calm and clean.
me|today Protect Hand Cream, $20.
Right now, I have hand cream in every room of the house, with constant hand washing, my dry hands need lots of TLC - and this little pot of cream has been very handy. The formula contains echinacea, olive leaf extract, vitamins C and E as well as aloe vera and cucumber - it sinks in fast, but leaves enough moisture on the hands to last for hours.
me|today Women's Daily Cream Cleanser, $30.
The brand says this cleanser is packed with a unique blend of ingredients that enrich and hydrate your skin. So I checked out the list; it contains ginkgo, grapeseed, cranberry, and antioxidants, CoQ10, vitamin A, B3, B5, C, and E. It cleans the skin and keeps it hydrated. At the same time, those anti-ageing ingredients help boost the skin's clarity - that's a win, win.
