Always highlight
Strategically placed, or on the high points of your face. Adding highlighter to your skin will transform your complexion, but, please, and don't stop there. Buffed on the decollete and the shoulders' tops will give your skin a healthy-looking glow in seconds; all you need to do is choose the shade.
Shimmer
Guerlain Mètèorties Hightliger Palette, $112. Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder, $110. Too Faced Multi-Use Diamond Fire Highlighter, $64. FENTY BEAUTY Killawatt Foil Freestyle Highlighter, in Ruby Richez, $65.
Coloured liner
The fastest way to giving your makeup look a pop of colour is with bold eyeliner. This spring liners don't have to stay on the lash line, who knew? Coined 'floating liner,' by makeup artists, you can draw the line above the lash line or in the eye's crease, rule breakers! Go for it, that is why makeup is so much fun, and if you don't like it, guess what? You can wash it off and start over.
Bold liners
Nude by Nature Contour Eye Pencil, in Sunrise, $23. MECCA MAX Zoom Shadow Stick in Teal $20. MARC JACOBS BEAUTY Highliner Matte Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner, in Out of the Blue, $42. Shiseido Kajal Ink Artist, in Rose Pagoda, $46.
Lip Gloss
Rethink gloss
Clear, coloured or with a touch of frost, lipgloss has made a big comeback- why was it ever gone - we say. One of our favourite makeup looks to finish the lips, but it doesn't have to end there. Go, gloss, gloss, and more gloss. Dabbed on the cheekbones or decollete, or keep it simple and layer it over your favourite lipstick or tinted lip balm - it's time to shine, people.
Colourful Eyeshadow
Clashing colour
Whatever colour combo you choose, be sure to add a touch of shimmer to the mix. Palettes are our go-to when it comes to owning a rainbow of eyeshadow shades to have at your fingertips. How to decide what shades to wear together? Choose those opposite the colour wheel, swipe one shade across the lids, and the other under your lower lash line for an ultra-colourful look.
Urban Decay Naked Ultraviolet, $91. Dior Diorshow 5 Couleurs Eye Palette, $127. Stila Road Less Traveled Eye Shadow Palette, $69. PAT MCGRATH LABS Eye Ecstasy Eye Shadow Palette, $52.
Red Lips
Red lips
From a cherry balm to a bold scarlet liquid matte, red comes in every finish this spring. Forget using a lip liner; simply press the colour directly from the bullet or want onto the lips, blot and reapply, to create a barely-there stain. Or layer it over a gloss for a punchy finish. Red is the 'it' to dress your lips this spring - and we could not be more thrilled to hear that.
Go red
Benefit California Kissin’ ColorBalm Moisturizing Lip Balm, $41. Clarins Velvet Lip Perfector, $40. Bobbi Brown Crushed Oil-Infused Gloss, $50. MAC Cosmetics Powder Kiss Liquid Lipcolour, $50.
Sparkle
Get into glitter
Choose one feature to make a big splash with sparkle or add a hint all-over your complexion. Glitter is one affordable embellishment to embrace this spring. From a luxe-y mascara to top your black lashes or a colourful hit of glitter on the eyelids or lips, we are swooning over this trend. One tip that is tried and true to prevent fallout, keep the glitter on your lids by applying a lid primer first. Then add an eyeshadow in the same tone, tap the glitter on top; this will make the sparkle stay all day.
DIOR Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Waterproof Mascara, in Over Sequins, $65. HOURGLASS Scattered Light Glitter Eyeshadow, in Foil, $51. Estée Lauder Pure Color Love Liquid Lipstick In Sparkle Shade in Limo Lights, $46. MAC Cosmetics Glitter in Reflects Turquatic, $36.
