Shiseido's new Pop PowderGel Eye Collection, $42 each

What is it?

Eighteen silky-smooth eyeshadows that offer unique, pigment-rich colours in a hydrating gel-powder formula. Made with wakame extract, an antioxidant-rich edible Japanese seaweed, and a film-forming gel polymer gives these powder shadows flexibility for extended wear. Cream-like to touch but with powder-like durability, the range offers both matte, shimmer, and sparkle textures inspired by the vibrant colours found in Japanese graphic art.

Why do we like them?

From the neon-bright Zawa-Zawa Green to a subtle Sube-Sube Beige, these new Pop Eyeshadows can be worn alone as a wash of shimmery colour over the lids or made more intense when used wet as a coloured eyeliner. You can also brush on a vibrant shade over the top of a classic black eyeliner to give the eyes a pop of iridescent shimmer. Our take-home: If you want an eyeshadow that is easy to apply, holds the rich colour all day, and won't crease, then with this collection, you're spoilt for choice.

The face of the Shiseido Pop Eye campaign features TV's most influential beauty force, Hunter Schafer who plays Jules from Euphoria on HBO. When asked what was her favourite shade, Zaa-Zaa Navy was the winner. “There is something emotional about this shade of blue. It has depth and I really like the way it catches the light. It’s like a painting. I want to live in it.”
