From subdued to illuminating, a table lamp will light up any room, says style director Louise Hilsz, who shares some of her favourite designs from local and international brands.
Arrange Studio
A standout, The Paradise Light from South African brand, Arrange Studio, has been over a year in the making. Every detail from drawing, testing, to prototyping, then adjusting, remaking and finally perfecting. This lamp is an example of exquisite lighting design, coupled with the pops of colour; we think it can hold its weight alongside any established European brand. The inspiration for this piece of art is the elegant, tropical Birds of Paradise dotted across the pacific islands; each light is made with golden colour on the inside of the top shade to emit a warming glow. Timeless, this is an investment in quality with made-to-order pieces; they are available in four standard colour combinations with the promise of more to come.

Levi Hawken
Artist Levi Hawken began his artistic career as a graffiti artist in Auckland during the mid-1990s. While much of his street graffiti is no longer visible, this influence remains in his work today, which has gone from public view (the walls around our cities) to private collectables, on canvas to sculpture in concrete, glass, and bronze. His latest work embodies his artistic demons and is an emotional backlash against issues within the graffiti movement. Seeing his art removed or vandalised has inspired his artistic style, including this collection of stunning lamps - worth the investment, we want every piece.

Nicole Lawrence Studio
Handmade in Melbourne, this collection of lamps is a beautiful collaboration with jeweller Seb Brown to showcase Nicole Lawrence’s small yet impressive sculpture work. The disc-shaped shades on these lamps rotate for dual functions of task or mood lighting. Dimmable LED bulbs provide romantic warm-tinted light to full brilliant task lighting for reading or writing. Each lamp is powder-coated aluminium and steel in a semi-gloss finish, available in three colours. Made to order, you can expect delivery between five to seven weeks; these lamps would make a wonderful gift.
