I experience dry lips all year round, and right now, they are chapped and sore, says editor Trudi Brewer. Who shares why a lip scrub should have a special place in your beauty routine.

It may be my makeup-free lockdown-look right now, or it could be a vitamin or mineral deficiency. Either Zinc, B vitamins and iron can all cause chapped lips and inflammation on the sides of your mouth or just plain skin dehydration. While I'm to up my water intake, I have developed a love for lip scrubs to get my sad-looking lips in top shape quickly. One tip to remember, the skin on the lips is much thinner with fewer oil glands than anywhere else, so attacking this area with harsh, grainy formulas can do more harm than good. However, some lip scrubs have been carefully formulated with gentle exfoliants and nourishing ingredients to smooth and improve that delicate skin at the same time.
Morphe 2 Prep Polish Lip Scrub, $13.
A great beauty buy this lip scrub uses shea butter, coconut and jojoba oils to hydrate and the jojoba seeds to exfoliate. Swipe it on like lipstick, then massage it daily; remove with a facial wipe or tissue before applying a gloss or balm.
Hennè Organics Lip Exfoliator Nordic Berries, $44.
My first Hennè love is my Luxury Lip Tint in Desire (a pretty red), and this Exfoliator is a close second. You can feel good about slathering this clean beauty scrub all over your pout because it's 96 per cent organic natural ingredients, including sugar and coconut oil, the perfect pairing in a lip scrub. And this gorgeous pink colour and subtle berry flavour and scent. There are three flavours in the range Mint, Nordic Berries and Rose Diamonds.
The Skin Kitchen Pineapple Lip Scrub, $16.
This homegrown NZ natural skincare brand offers a delicious lip scrub. Using golden castor sugar and organic polenta to buff off that dry skin, the blend of jojoba and castor oils nourish. But it’s the taste of organic pineapple oil that we have become addicted to.
Dior Addict Lip Sugar Scrub, $35.
The price of this scrub might be more in line with what you’d want to fork out for a lippy than a scrub, but it’s worth every cent. Why? This is a scrub-meets-balm all-in-one. The sugar granules exfoliate, then gently melt away as your rub your lips together leaving a creamy balm, that has a gorgeous glossy pink finish. The best news, no need to wipe or rinse it off, so it’s easy to use anytime, anywhere. Luxe-y and handy.
Frank Body Lip Scrub, $16.
The 100 per cent natural blend of macadamia nut oil, grapefruit extract, raw sugar and coffee, blended with beeswax pretty much sums up the ingredients in this guy. Smoothing lips is what it was born to do, and smooth lips are precisely what you will get every time you use it.
A brow collection to suit any style or shape.
