Clinique is on a roll right now. A top player in the prestige beauty market, they continue to break barriers with active yet gentle skincare. Find out how the new players, Smart Clinical Repair Wrinkle Correcting Cream and Serum work.
What is it?
Clinique Smart Clinical Repair Wrinkle Correcting Cream, $134.
The brand says it's a "wrinkle-fighting cream that helps strengthen and nourish for smoother, younger-looking skin for all types and ages." And the ingredient lineup backs that up. First, a cleverly manufactured cocktail of synthetic peptides called CL1870 Peptide Complex (which includes Palmitoyl tripeptide-1, Acetyl hexapeptide-8 and Palmitoyl, tetrapeptide-7) feeds the skin with collagen-making protein. Our favourite moisture magnet, hyaluronic acid, has two molecular weights that help this hero ingredient sink in and flood the skin's surface with moisture. Next, soybean seed extract boosts new skin cell growth., and finally, shea butter contains essential lipids that form a barrier to your complexion to keep moisture and the drying, ageing effects of our environment at bay.
What is it?
Clinique Smart Clinical Repair Wrinkle Correcting Serum, $193.
This serum tackles the signs of ageing from three angles: First, the clever peptide cocktail CL1870 Peptide Complex, then adding a retinoid (vitamin A derivative) gentle speeds up the cell renewal process to slowly shed that dullness and sun damage look from your complexion. At the same time, the blend of caffeine and sea algae helps to minimise irritation. Finally, hyaluronic acid features in the serum, too, so those fine lines look and feel plump and nourished.
Both the serum and cream were designed to be used twice daily, morning and night. For the day, always apply sunscreen over the top.
Why do we like it?
First, to the serum, the texture is like luxurious silk, so lightweight it's like you're not wearing anything on your face, but amazingly it's super hydrating. Then the cream layered over the top adds a welcome dose of moisture my skin craves. I don't usually recommend sticking with one skincare brand because I like to use different ranges for different results. However, this combination was created to be a couple, and they work. Furthermore, you don't need to apply much product; both melt into the skin and spread forever. By the end of my review period (one month), I noticed my skin looked healthier, and the texture also felt smoother. Clinique only creates products that undergo rigorous testing with a panel of dermatologists. They are active, without irritating, and clinically proven for efficacy and safety. In addition, they are oil, fragrance, and paraben-free. That is why Clinique has made the list of the 45 most powerful brands in beauty, even in a world of continued uncertainty.
