Spring signals change, albeit large or small your beauty routine needs a shake-up to welcome the warm and often windy weather. So, what spring beauty products can we expect to see flying off the shelves? Whether it be the sunshine-induced scent or a concealer that adds an effortless touch of cover to any annoying blemish. A glossy pout, heavenly scented vegan soap and a designer skin mist in a summery shade. Don't worry; I have the best on offer curated into this list, so you can shop from the comfort of your couch.
Here are my must-haves, says editor Trudi Brewer.
The Concealer
Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Radiant Concealer, $49.
If you can get your hands on this concealer (Charlotte Tilbury is in hot demand these days), your skin will love you for it. The brand says it’s easy to choose and use, with 30 diverse shades that effortlessly combine a buildable coverage with glow-giving, long-term skincare benefits. Thank you, Charlotte. We expected nothing less.
The soap
NESTI DANTE SOAP PHILOSOPHIA, $14.
The day this new collection of triple-milled Italian vegetable soap arrived in the office, it had never spelt so good. The sweet yet spicy scent of white daphne booms with lotus and echinacea is exquisite. Put to the test; this is one of the most luxe-y vegetable soaps we have used. Why? It does more than clean the skin. It contains azulene oil and oligo-elements, including zinc and vitamin A, that offer an anti-inflammatory action while gently detoxifying the skin. This is not just another bar of soap. It’s a beauty staple with great benefits. There are seven soaps in the Philosophia collection.
The scent
Ellis Brooklyn Sun Fruit Eau De Parfum, $179.
Fruity florals are made for summer. This holiday-inspired blend of fresh fig, bergamot, jasmine, orange blossom, cyclamen, coconut and musky vanilla does evoke the feeling of a tropical escape. I didn’t think I would enjoy another Ellis Brooklyn scent as much as Salt, but this comes a very close second.
The Gloss
FENTY BEAUTY Gloss Bomb Heat Lip Luminizer + Plumper, $45.
Possibly the best gloss I have loaded onto my lips to shine, boosting ability, and the colour is everything. A cherry coral shade that works with every outfit I own. it has just the right amount of shine and stick-ability. The best news is, it’s also loaded with skin-loving AHAs, anti-oxidants and vitamins and free from the nasties. Pictured here is Hot Cherry; there are five shades.
The hot brush
Lady Jayne Salon Pro Rechargeable Straightening Brush, $63.
A game-changer when it comes to hot hair tools. First, it’s wireless, charges with a USB rechargeable (in your laptop or car), and the (long) heated fins are coated with ceramic and ionic powders to smooth that dreaded frizz and static. It heats in seconds and has five digital heat settings to suit your hair type and condition. But we love this innovation because it fits into a handbag so you can perfect your style, anywhere, anytime - it’s genius.
GUCCI Brume De Beauté Beauty Mist, $120.
Before makeup to hydrate the skin or after the film-forming actives help set your makeup for the day. Stacked with antioxidants from black rose oil and infused with hyaluronic acid, it delivers a cloud of hydration to any skin in need of an instant pick-me-up. This skin mist is heaven-sent.
ESTÉE LAUDER Advanced Night Repair Eye Supercharged Gel-Creme Synchronized Multi-Recovery Eye Cream, $137.
All you need to know about this eye cream gel is that it ticks almost every under-eye concern and feels awesome. If dark circles are your issue, it helps correct that, tick. If you hate the look of dryness and fine lines under the eyes, it smoothes and hydrates, tick. And if you want an eye cream that sits well, under makeup and giving the skin under your eyes a radiant boost, it does that too. It’s a lightweight , refreshing gel with the power of a nourishing cream. It’s fast-absorbing and can be used day and night. If you want more info on the ingredients or high-tech performance you can find it here.
The Sunscreen
Mecca Cosmetica To Save Face SPF50+ Brightening Sun Serum, $48.
We are picky when it comes to sunscreen. This newbie ticks a lot of boxes for us. It is an SPF with skincare benefits, including skin-saving plant proteins, niacinamide vitamins B3 and E, and liquorice root extract that helps smooth the look of fine lines and brown spots. The screens blend physical and chemical ingredients to reflect and absorb those damaging UV rays. The skin-tinted, semi-matte texture blends seamlessly and plays well under makeup.
