July's best beauty buys

July is the chillest month on our calendar, but these beauty buys will add an aura of warmth to the skin and body. Editor Trudi Brewer shares the latest to covet this month.

The ease with which this multi-use cream-to-powder eye shadow, liner or highlighter creates a beautiful makeup look is impressive. From sheer to buildable in matte and pearl finishes, the colour glides on the lids, which you can blend with your fingers, and stays put for hours. A built-in sharpener allows for precise lining, and the best news is that if anyone finds eye shadow irritating, this clean beauty buy-on uses the best from nature, like jojoba and coconut oils and natural earth-derived mica for the colour. There are ten shades - our editor is hooked on Rose, pictured here.

If you’re a Billie Eilish fan, then No3 will be a complete surprise. It’s an amber, woody floral with a fresh bite. That’s from grapefruit, pink peppercorn, and jasmine. Spicy saffron, fresh fir needle, creamy cedar, and velvety amber with oakmoss. The crimson bottle is a new look for Eilish, too, in the same statuesque torso bottle.

We love that dewy sheen your skin sports post-facial—but sadly, it never lasts. Glossier Futuredew (which our editor has been using since its launch in 2019) has bottled that effect courtesy of skin-loving jojoba, grapeseed, evening primrose, rosehip oils, and a sugarcane-derived squalane, which is brimming with antioxidant benefits. At the same time, the subtle tint comes from a blend of light-reflecting particles. While this is every bit a nourishing serum-like lotion, it also doubles as a brilliant skin primer under makeup - #love.

This heavy-duty multi-benefit lip balm can be used on dry spots, including cuticles. It is formulated with squalane, olive oil, jojoba esters, sunflower seed oil, and Baobab, which is high in vitamin A and free from nasties. We call it a pocket rocket healing balm, which fits easily in your pocket or purse.

The more skin-illuminating products we can load our complexions with in winter, the more glowy and summery we look. This versatile, blendable glass skin creator works under or over makeup and can be mixed with your favourite foundation or moisturiser. It will light up your skin while hydrating and soothing it with hibiscus, passionflower extracts, squalene, aloe, and coconut water. There are three shades, pictured is her Light Catcher.

As far as hard-hitting anti-ageing creams go, Prevage has an impressive legacy. This newbie was created to strengthen the skin while offering collagen support for a firmer complexion, which the brand promises you will see in seven days. Its ingredient list is impressive, too: rice peptides, carnosine (from amino acids), and the hero ingredient, Idebenone, which guards the skin against free radical damage. It’s lightweight in texture, super hydrating, and melts into the skin within seconds.
