It's time to shelve the dark smokey-eye in favour of a pop of colour. And when it comes to the shade, think bold and beautiful. Here are some of our favourite shadow shades to wear this winter.
Loose shadows
Strategic placement - is the key to pulling off this bold look. Pick one shade, and apply it as a statement colour. Either along the lash line or in the inner tear duct or on the outer part of the eye. To help loose shadows stay put, use a damp brush, and apply as a liner of a wash of colour on the lids, once it dries, it will stay all day.

Palettes
Pair a bold colour with a soft neutral, such as gold or bronze or nude; this highlights the pop of colour. A dewy foundation finish, groomed brows, and a slick of soft peach lip gloss add an elegant polish to this look. Palette shadows come in handy; they offer a range of colours (bold and neutral) that can be used wet or dry, depending on the intensity you want.

Liquid shadows
If you’re afraid of colour, start with purple or green. These colours suit every skin tone and eye colour; they’re also a safe bet for both day and after five. A liquid shadow is so simple to use, simply swipe on the colour and then blend with a shadow brush.

Pencils
From a simple graphic line to a smudge of colour close to the lashes, a bold liner is the perfect way to show off colour in a understated way. Match this liner with a bronze shadow, black mascara and a subtle nudegloss.
