There is nothing worse than having a bad hair day. Thankfully, the hair gods created dry shampoo - the one beauty product the team at BEQ are never without. Editor Trudi Brewer shares how to use it.
For anyone new to dry shampoo, or if you just want to learn how to use it to its full potential - read on.
Tip I. Spray into dry hair: Only spray dry shampoo into dry hair, this is when it works best. Post blow dry to boost volume or to cleanse oily roots, always spray first and then add other styling products.
Tip 2. Spritz at arm's length: When using spray version of dry shampoo, spritz at least six inches away from the scalp. Otherwise, you will see a visible, often white, build-up of product and won’t be able to brush it out through your hair.
Tip 3: Spray under the layers: Apply dry shampoo section by section, under the top layers at the roots of your hair only. This avoids that dreaded white residue while helping to add volume to your hair.
Tip 4. Spray and then style: A little goes a long way. Spritz and then brush hair. Next, add heat to the hair with a dryer, and then brush out the dry shampoo again, until it's completely absorbed.
Tip 5: Dry shampoo is not just for cleansing hair: Dry shampoo removes excess oil from your hair and it also adds texture and volume to freshly washed, lank hair. It's also the perfect hair pick-me-up to take your ‘do from day to night when you need to get ready at work.
Tip 6: Dry shampoo is nothing new: It's one of the best beauty comebacks of all time. It has been around for decades, in fact, the iconic British model, Twiggy made it a beauty sensation in the 60's. But what is new is the ingredient innovation. You can now get dry shampoo in a powder, aerosol spray, cream and even tinted formulas that cover greys. There are also formulas that help treat dry colour-treated hair and protect a sensitive scalp.
