Louis Vuitton has unveiled its first collection of luxury fragrances for men, inspired by the travels of master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud. Editor Trudi Brewer joins the French fashion and beauty giant on a thrilling olfactory journey.
SUR LA ROUTE
For the man who likes to feel the wind in his hair, Sur La Route evokes a carefree attitude and brims with energy. Tangy, fresh citrus is blended with raw, green cedar and underpinned with Peruvian balsam, pink peppercorn and nutmeg to create a scent that makes you want to pack a bag and head for the open road.
ORAGE
If you could bottle the energy of a dark, brooding thunderstorm it would smell like Orage. The blend of iris, patchouli and vetiver melds with the skin, creating an earthy, woody scent that evokes the raw force of nature. Take shelter now.
AU HASARD
For the risk taker, Au Hasard is an unusual blend of creamy sandalwood, fruity seed of ambrette and spicy cardamon. The result is both exciting and masculine yet surprisingly sensitive – the olfactory equivalent of throwing caution to the wind.
OMBRE NOMADE
Oud wood has an intense, smoky scent that is synonymous with the Middle East. More expensive than gold and notoriously difficult to master, oud is for serious fragrance fans. In Ombre Nomade, the leathery, spicy, woody accents of pure oud assam are tempered with raspberry, rose and geranium and a base of mystical benzoin. Think campfire smoke blowing across desert sand.
L'IMMENSITé
As invigorating as a big breath of fresh air, L'Immensité stimulates the senses with a blend of bitter grapefruit, ginger, labdanum and a sensual amber note. On the skin it reveals a crisp wateriness with a green undertone that leaves you wanting more.
NOUVEAU MONDE
There's nothing quite like travelling in a foreign land, inhaling exotic fragrances and experiencing the buzz of daily life all around. Nouveau Monde has just that effect, transporting you somewhere off the beaten track, thanks to its blend of smooth cocoa, leathery oud assam and spicy saffron.
