Yves Saint Laurent Libre, 90ml, $249
What's in it?
Citrusy thanks to mandarin oil, and petitgrain, with vintage-inspired, wild French lavender, steam-distilled to preserve that musky aroma. Next comes a hit of tart blackcurrant extract, and one of the hero ingredients orange blossom from Morocco this blend makes it lingers for hours. Then, the combination of creamy-heady jasmine, vanilla extract from Madagascar, cedarwood, and earthy ambergris help to create the magic.
Made by a team of star perfumers, including Anne Flipo from France and Moroccan, Carlos Benaïm, they have designed a new Yves Saint Laurent perfume that is almost as lust-worthy as a YSL bag, adorned with the same oversized logo.
Why do we like it?
I live vicariously through my friends, and when I say that, I mean I covet their fragrance taste. Because when it comes to new fragrances, I am spoilt for choice. I get to see a fragrance well before it hits the shelves, case in point with YSL Libre. While still relatively new, (it hit our shores back in September this year), I am guilty of not wearing it since its launch. But after smelling it on my friend, (and her daughter who also loves it ) I have a new appreciation for its floral, yet musky attraction. Not to mention the beautiful bottle, given a Midas touch, adorned in luxe-y gold chains inspired by one of those must-have YSL handbags. Call me shallow, but it's now part of my daily routine.
