Chopard's Haute Parfumerie Collection

Luxury brands often launch fragrance collections. Think Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, and now Chopard. Editor Trudi Brewer shares her favourite perfumes from this premium Swiss watch and jewellery brand.

For a luxury brand like Chopard attention to detail is everything, and the eight new nature-inspired scents created to reflect ‘Gardens of Paradise’ (a green collection) and ‘Gardens of Tropics’ (a blue collection), are the epitome of that. The brand has managed a first, creating a green luxury perfume collection, harnessing the best from Mother Nature responsibly from across the globe. They have created a range of bold, gender fluid fragrance with much more dimension than many dated formulas on offer today. To that end, Chopard got the best perfumers on board. Nathalie Lorson, from the fragrance capital of the world, Grasse in France, who made her name creating Chopard Wish back in 1997, as well as Bvlgari Pour Femme, YSL Black Opium, and most recently Dolce & Gabbana K by Dolce & Gabbana (created alongside Daphné Bugey). And, Spanish fragrance master Alberto Morillas, who has a long list of scent-success stories, including Calvin Klein One, Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue, Gucci Bloom, and Kenzo Flower. Together they have combined their perfume distinction to create this clever collection.
Here are my favourites from the lineup.

Chopard Orange Mauresque EDP Fragrance Spray, 100ml, $415.

What’s in it?

This lush, citrus banquet, was inspired by a Moorish garden, abundant with tart citrus, including lemon, orange blossom, leafy green neroli, and bergamot. Add the long-lasting warmth of musky amber and resins from the liquid amber tree and South American copaiba tree, and you have a non-gender specific scent.

Chopard Magnolia au vètiver d'Haïti, EDP, 100ml $369.

What’s in it?

Fresh violet leaves mixed with rosy, pink pepper, lemony magnolia, amber, and Haitian vetiver, are heightened by the woody blend of sandalwood and smoky, Cashmeran blonde woods. These ingredients give this fragrance a honey-like quality that can be worn by you or him.

Why do we like this collection

Fragrance aficionados are looking for a unique scent. They want something unforgettable, a fragrance that transports you to another time and place. That pretty much sums up this collection. One of the brand’s core beliefs is that ‘we are merely passing through our time on this planet and, while we do that, we should show good stewardship.’ While on that journey, don’t you think you should leave a trail of exquisite scent behind you? We do. That green science, and sustainably-grown ingredients, (that Chopard paid a fair price for to support local farmers and families), are the makings of eight exquisite gender-neutral scents. Some are crisp and green, others powdery and soft, while one offers a warm, smoky, seductive aroma. Created to be worn on bare skin by anyone who loves them, the only thing they all have in common is that each gem-like bottle is a fragrant work of art. Just like the Chopard high jewellery collection, expect a touch of luminous magic the moment you lift the lid.
