There is no denying when your skin feels good; it usually looks good too. However, keeping it that way is always work in progress. Editor Trudi Brewer shares some simple steps and how to start 2020 with bespoke skin plan.
Skincare is not skin health
No amount of face cream will keep your skin healthy. The best anti-ageing treatment is maintaining a constant level of oil, and water in the skin, both topically and from your diet. As well as applying a daily SPF, these commitments keep the skin resilient to intrinsic and extrinsic ageing.
Double cleansing daily is a skincare 101
For healthy-looking skin that functions at peak condition, double cleanse. Start with a wash to remove your makeup, and then the second cleans your skin. This ritual helps to prepare the skin for the goodness from your at-home skincare products.
Apply skin products in the right order
After cleansing, apply a skin serum, and then eye cream, followed by your day SPF moisturiser or night cream. Don't let your potent (and potentially expensive) treatment creams and serums fight there way through thick moisturiser to be effective.
Always apply skincare beyond the jawline
Don't forget the neck and chest. Extend the TLC to these areas, which are often overlooked and may have accrued more damage than your face over years of neglect.
Don't be lazy when it comes to sunscreen
Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen! You've heard that mantra from skin experts before; it means to use it every single day; rain, hail, or shine. There is no better anti-ageing cream than a daily dose of sunscreen, even on cloudy days. Make sure it's an SPF 30, board spectrum, and it needs to be the last step before makeup in your morning routine.
Reach your skin goals with a bespoke plan
