Effortlessly chic, a fruity floral fragrance that you will want to wear day and night. Editor Trudi Brewer shares Issey Miyake’s new summer essential.
Issey Miyake Nectar D’Issey Premiere Fleur, EDP $164.
We do have a soft spot for Japanese designer Issey Miyake. At 81, his fashion is still relevant, elegant, and timeless, making each piece wearable for any occasion - a little bit like his scent. This new extension of the third in the Nectar D'Issey family is called Premiere Fleur. Inspired by Nyctinasty, it's the circadian rhythmic of how flowers and plants respond to the time of day and night. When darkness falls, plants go into a sleeping mode to protect their nectar from the cold and damp. At dawn, the flowers open so that sunlight boosts the nectar, which helps release their perfume.
What's in it?
From the first spritz, this is a fragrance for floral lovers. Technically the brand calls it a fruity floral, inspired by the freshness of 'daybreak blooms.' In this case, sweet jasmine and musky peony. With juicy watermelon and nashi pear, that together are sweet yet fresh. Finally, what makes it last all day like that effortless, beautiful fashion, is the musk, spicy vanilla, and lastly, the honey-like scent of sandalwood.
Why do we like it?
New Zealand women are lovers of Issey Miyake fragrance (sales prove that), and there is always interest when a new scent launches. This creamy, well-crafted summery floral scent is fresh when you spray it on, powdery after a few minutes, and then it unleashes a wearable warmth that lingers all night long. This fragrance has so much depth; the more you breathe it in, the more it leaves you wanting more. Just like Miyake's fashion, it's simple, pure, and oh so wearable - but don't take my word for it; try it for yourself.
