The finishing touch to any fashion look, a fragrance is an ultimate accessory that never dates, says editor Trudi Brewer. So here's one that's on her radar right now.
Up until recently, I have always gravitated toward fresh, tangy scents. However, this winter, the allure of musk, reminiscent of freshly washed skin, has turned me. Read on to discover more.
What's in it?
When a designer scent gets a cult following like Flower by KENZO, it makes sense for the perfumer, in this case, Alberto Morillas, to keep creating newness. So, when Coral an eau de toilette landed on my desk, I had to share it. The tangy citrus from Sicilian lemon (hand-picked at dawn, apparently) instantly reassures you this is still a refreshing and joyful fragrance to wear. The splash of Bulgarian rose water satisfies the floral fragrance lover, but what makes it unique is the blend of white musk and organic vanilla. Used as a base note in fragrances, white musk smells earthy, even animalistic. It brings warmth and smoothness that leaves a lasting impression. It's one ingredient that smells like your skin but better - it also settles into everyone's skin so differently, to linger for hours.
Why do I like it?
Perhaps it's the nippy winter weather we're having right now or that my love of white musk is growing as I gravitate toward more fragrances loaded with it. This Coral version of Flower by KENZO is the perfect pick-me-up to wear during the day, yet sophisticated enough to wear after five. It's ideal for anyone who likes floral perfume but hates how it can be cloyingly sweet. Right now, its vibrant yet earthy quality means I can't get enough of it.
