If Marc Jacobs's first Perfect fragrance success is anything to go by, then his latest Perfect Intense will sell out. A rich, irresistible floral, created to celebrate self-expression unapologetically, a scent on my Christmas wish list, says editor Trudi Brewer.
I always knew this was coming. Well, I guessed there would be another Perfect after the massive success of the first that launched late last year. Fashion designer Marc Jacobs is no stranger to top-selling scents - think Daisy, one of his most famous. However, Perfect was personal. Created to reflect his mantra: "I am perfect as I am," symbolised by the word "perfect" tattooed on his wrist. The new Perfect Intense was also created to encourage everyone to celebrate the powerful beauty of being honest, being bold, and being #perfectasiam.
Marc Jacobs Perfect Intense is available at Life Pharmacy,
50ml, $179 pictured here 100ml, $219.
What's in it?
It's a floral fragrance lovers dream. Fresh, yet creamy, with a spicy kick, thanks to the heady scent of night-blooming Jasmine and a hint of musky vanilla-like daffodil. At the same time, the unusual pairing of roasted almonds and sandalwood leaves that warm whiff of spice designed to lift your mood. Jacobs believes, "This scent is not about aspiring to be that woman; it's about aspiring to be your true self."
Why do we like it?
Jacobs gets better with every collection, and while his fashion is an obsession of mine, the designer himself is too. He's funny and frank, unique and grateful. This fragrance is unapologetic, like the advertising campaign that stars people of all backgrounds, ages, genders, and body shapes. It's joyful and authentic - with a touch of vintage glamour - that only Jacobs could bring. He believes this scent is rich, golden and bold. I love it. I'm not just saying that because I adore Marc Jacobs, this scent is surprising; and delightful. From the spicy, sweet aroma to the classic bottle with the crystal-cut cap crowned with mismatched charms in shades of gold, silver, black, yellow, and a confident dash of cherry red, it's a nod to eclecticism and individuality. It's not made to appeal to the masses, but it will. For me, it's a subtle reminder that regardless of your age or gender, you can wear any fragrance you like.

Another designer expression of loving our true selves.
