TikTok makeup hacks

There's no 'right' or 'wrong' to apply makeup. However, some clever techniques on apps like TikTok allow us to view helpful hacks from real people that would probably never be on your radar. Like how to get a perfect pink (the colour of your lips) stain to an uplifting flush of blush, soaping up your brows, and, the best yet, say goodbye to clumpy-looking mascara.
Here are some of our favourite beauty hacks that work a treat in real life.

Soaping up your brows

How to

For a perfectly brushed-up brow look, pomades and waxes will define brows beautifully, and so will a bar of soap. To achieve that laminated lifted-looking brow, when you don't have a brow gel on hand, dampen a clean mascara or spoolie brush with water, and coat it in soap (use a transparent bar or baby soap). Then all that is left to do is brush the soap through your eyebrows. Then, add to the shape or fullness and fill in sparse areas with a brow pencil or powder eyeshadow.

That subtle pink stain

How to

On the hunt for that perfect, subtle lip stain that looks like a flush of colour that you have effortlessly applied? This clever, simple lipstick hack will give you just that. All you have to do is dot a bit of your favourite red gloss in the middle of your lips, then blend it out with your finger. The result is an instant stained effect that doesn't look dry and takes seconds to master.

Reverse Mascara Application

How to

Mascara clumping is an all too common issue. Even the best mascara formulas and the most significant brush can let you down. We like to apply multiple coats, but when we're in a hurry, clumping disasters happen. Using your favourite mascara apply three layers of mascara, starting at the tip and going back to the root roots. Not only does this technique help reduce clumping, it prevents your lashes from getting weighed down by excess product — helping them to stay lifted-looking for longer.

Face-Lifting Blush

How to

We learned blush should go on the apples of the cheeks for a nice to get that believable rosy glow. While there's absolutely nothing wrong with this technique, TikTok users have been sharing a blush application hack that's a total game-changer - if you're after a more 'lifted' look. The trick giving cheeks that instantly youthful look is by applying blush higher up on your cheeks and then blended it up and out toward your temples - it works like magic.
