This men’s scent has all the elements missing from my life- sunshine and salty sea air. Editor Trudi Brewer shares a standout designer fragrance she will be wearing.
Kenzo Parfum's latest scent has been described as “A sunny and salty summer’s day, inspired by skin emerging from the ocean.” If, like me, you have forgotten how good that feels, this could be the scent to transport you to my favourite season - summer. Read on to learn more.
Kenzo Homme, Marine EDT, is available in 60mls for $135, and 110mls, for $172.
What does it smell like?
The first spritz starts with an energising freshness the brand calls a marine accord, which is skin bracing and ultra-crisp. Once softened by the rich, heady flower Ylang-Ylang and warmed by creamy sandalwood and musk, this scent lives up to its reputation as aquatic-like with sunshiny warmth. It's bottled in aqua, the same colour as the ocean, and its shape is designed to replicate the strength and flexibility of bamboo. While it was made for the men in your life, I think women will readily covet this scent for how quickly it reinvigorates your entire day.
Why do we like it?
First up, this newbie reflects Kenzo Parfum's commitment to a cleaner, greener planet. So, 95 per cent of the ingredients are from natural origin, and the cap was redesigned to save 34 per cent of plastic. The azure blue bottle is made from 15 per cent recycled glass, and the outer paper box is from well-managed forests certified FSC (Forest Stewardship Council). But that isn't why it's a stand-out addition to the Kenzo scent collection. It's no surprise that this fragrance set out to interpret the ocean. The sea has a calming effect on your mind and body, and its ever-changing shades of blue help boost feelings of calmness and peace, not to mention the mesmerising rhythmic sound of the waves and that bracing salty sea air. If you're a summer person like me, nothing beats a day at the beach. So, while I wait for the warmth on my skin, this fragrance feels like a day by the ocean, no matter where you find yourself.
Another designer expression of loving our true selves.
