Q&A
What is light therapy?
Light therapy (LED therapy), which stands for Light Emitting Diode, is a non-invasive skincare treatment that uses different wavelengths of light to address various skin concerns. Each light colour targets acne, pigmentation, inflammation, and ageing issues. By penetrating the skin layers, it stimulates cellular activity, collagen production, and healing.
Who are the skin experts behind Trudermal?
The skin experts behind Trudermal are Karin Laidlaw and I. We each have over 20 years of experience in the skin industry. Our extensive background and expertise in skincare and skin correction led us to create the Trudermal brand, incorporating cutting-edge technology to improve skin health.
How does Trudermal improve your skin?
Trudermal improves the skin by using advanced LED light technology that stimulates skin cells, increases collagen production, reduces inflammation, rosacea, and perioral dermatitis, and promotes healing. The mask's different light wavelengths target specific concerns, such as reducing fine lines, improving skin texture, and soothing irritated skin, resulting in healthier and more youthful-looking skin.
What do the different light settings do?
Blue light 465nm: Targets acne-causing bacteria and helps clear breakouts.
Infrared 850nm: The deepest skin penetration works in the subcutaneous tissues, reducing inflammation and allowing for ultimate skin and tissue repair.
Red light 633nm: Stimulates collagen production and helps reduce fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, and inflammation.
What do the different mode settings do?
Mode 1 Anti-Acne: This is your go-to acne treatment, using LED lights in blue (465nm) and near-infrared (850nm) combined at 132 LEDs. Blue LED light therapy reduces the activity of the sebaceous glands and neutralises and eliminates bacteria. Combining near-infrared in this treatment will reduce inflammation and start the wound-healing process.
Mode 2 Acne Repair Near: This is the one for you if you have adult acne. Blue (465nm) and Red (633nm) are combined to help treat acne, decrease scarring, and reduce inflammation. The added benefits of skin rejuvenation make this LED great for adult acne.
Mode 3 Skin Rejuvenation: Advanced skin rejuvenation. Red (633nm) and near-infrared (850nm) combined improve the signs of ageing, such as fine lines and wrinkles. It does this by stimulating fibroblast cells to increase collagen production, which is key in ageing and skin healing. For dermatitis, eczema, and skin irritation, the LED will reduce inflammation and calm the skin.
How often should you use the mask?
For best results, it’s recommended to use the Truedermal Glow LED Mask three times a week over six weeks, then for ongoing maintenance, use it once or twice a week on clean skin. We do not recommend using any products like serum underneath the mask. It is also best to have a 24-hour window between each light treatment. This allows the skin cells to achieve their full potential for the ultimate skin correction. More is not always best when it comes to Trudermal Glow LED Mask.
Can you do a combination of settings throughout the week?
Depending on your skin's needs, you can use different light settings throughout the week. For example, you might use red light for anti-ageing benefits on some days and switch to blue light if you're dealing with acne or breakouts. It all depends on your desired outcome and what is happening on the skin at the time.
How long does it take to see results?
Most people start to notice visible improvements in their skin within four to six weeks of consistent use. However, results vary depending on individual skin conditions, and more significant changes may be seen after eight to 12 weeks of regular treatment.
Can this mask be used at any age, and can you continue to use it in your skincare routine for life?
Truedermal Glow LED Mask is suitable for people aged 16 and can be part of a long-term skincare routine. Whether used for acne in teens or for anti-ageing in later years, it’s a safe and effective tool for ongoing skin maintenance.
What sets Trudermal apart from other LED masks?
It features advanced technology, multiple light settings, and deep skin-penetrating capabilities. The mask is designed by experienced skin professionals and crafted with medical-grade materials to ensure maximum safety, comfort, and effectiveness for all skin types. We also have a unique LED placement for the upper lip, which most LED masks do not.
What is the future for Trudermal, and can we expect New innovations soon?
The future for Trudermal looks promising as the brand continues to focus on innovative technology and will release our professional LED in the next eight weeks. While specific details are unavailable, Trudermal will likely expand its product line with new tools and treatments that harness the latest in skin science, addressing more concerns and pushing the boundaries of at-home skincare treatment and the professional arena.
Style director Louise Hilsz shares her skin journey
In the last two years, several beauticians and cosmetic medicine experts have commented that I have rosacea. I get a red flush in a change of heat and occasionally after a glass of wine, but I didn’t think it was anything too sinister. Now that it has been pointed out, I have been obsessed with finding a solution. My other skin concern has also always been open pores. After using the mask for five weeks, I am impressed with the results. I have mainly used the Mode 3 Skin Rejuvenation setting three times a week. My pores are less noticeable, and the redness has significantly reduced. What I wasn’t expecting with the mask was the results of breakouts. My skin is generally quite clear, and if I wasn’t quick to pick at my skin, I would probably have no problems, but like most women, I get breakouts, particularly around my chin, that can lead to big lumps. As soon as I noticed this happening, I used Mode 1 Anti-Acne, and every time, by the morning, my chin was clear. What used to turn into a hard lump, which never eventuated to anything but a red welt, was gone. I cannot speak highly enough of the Truedermal Glow LED Mask, and I look forward to seeing continued results. It's 10 minutes of self-care that my skin thanks me for.
