GIVENCHY L'Interdit Noctural JasmineEau De Parfum Limited Edition, $177.

What's in it?

The latest heady white floral scent from French luxury brand hero's perhaps the most popular flower in fragrance making, jasmine. The brand calls this new limited edition a woody floral, using intoxicating Indian jasmine as the star ingredient. The flowers are picked in their bud stage at twilight to help capture jasmine's unique yet delicate strength, so when blended with zesty vetiver, bitter almond essence and patchouli, it lasts for hours and hours.

The original L’Interdit, created in 1957, was made exclusively for Hubert de Givenchy’s friend and muse, actress Audrey Hepburn. Refusing to let another woman wear her perfume, Hepburn reputedly joked, ‘Je vous l’interdis!’ – “I forbid you.

Why do we like it?

Suckers for a floral fragrance especially laced with jasmine, any time of the year, including a dull autumn day. This newbie is an exquisite floral fragrance; there is enough citrus tang and musky aroma to make it unique and live up to its past. The original L'Interdit, created in 1957, was made exclusively for Hubert de Givenchy's friend and muse, actress Audrey Hepburn. Refusing to let another woman wear her perfume, Hepburn reputedly joked, 'Je vous l'interdis!' – "I forbid you”. So I wonder what she would make of this new iteration of the classic. It’s fresh to start and then gives off an addictive warmth, so I am picking she would have approved. She would have been hard-pressed to find someone who doesn't love it (us included).
