Clarins Oleo-Serum Skin Tint, $71,

Clarins call this newbie “makeup made for skin.” The formula combines the benefits of a hydrating serum, making up 80 per cent of the formula; the rest consists of mineral pigments to create the skin tint. Also worth noting is that 98 per cent of the ingredients are of natural origin. Now for my rave. First, it offers excellent coverage, unlike some serum foundations that give a barely there finish, but I need concealer to hide imperfections. It’s uber-hydrating with an innovation called Tri-Oleo Complex, a blend of what Clarins is famous for - using plant extracts in their cosmetics. These include moisturising hazelnut and jojoba oils, vegetable squalane, and ceramides that synergise with the skin to reinforce its barrier function. Finally, I love that it left my skin feeling - almost makeup-free, but it looked flawless. It glides onto the skin, and you only need one dropper full for the entire face. I used a brush to apply it, almost buff it in, but you can use your fingers or a sponge; there are no rules. But the best bonus is that while lightweight, it hides my sun-induced pigment with absolute ease (big win).
