Musky floral fragrances are often a staple in a fragrance-lovers collection. Why? Musk is mysterious and gives the scent a seductive kick that settles into everyone's skin so differently, says editor Trudi Brewer, who shares the latest designer duo from Hugo Boss.
Boss The Scent Magnetic For Her by hugo Boss, $166.
What’s in it?
The clever blend of white musk (my fave) and osmanthus flower offers a honey-like scent quality, making this an instantly comforting fragrance. The velvety ambrette seeds are the perfect balance to white musk and help give it an addictive, lasting edge. The deep purple bottle screams luxury; this newbie has an intoxicating star quality once you catch a whiff.
Why do we like it?
It’s one of the most luxe-y warming scents to hit my desk this autumn. And it’s all down to the musk. If you’re a novice, this ingredient brings uniqueness to a scent; it is instantly grounding and sensual. It straddles the line between warm and spicy and blends with other warming ingredients beautifully. Regardless of where you spritz it on, it feels mysterious and spicy, like taking a bite of something exotic you’ve never tried. It’s perfect for date night or whenever you want to leave a lasting impression - enough said.
Boss The Scent Magnetic For Him by Hugo Boss EDP 50ml, $150.
The men’s version of this scent is an irresistible fusion of creamy black vanilla extract and Maninka fruit (which smells like strawberries dipped in chocolate). Adding bran absolute (a little like the scent of honeycomb) deepens that creamy vanilla and helps it last for hours. Its black lacquer bottle set within an ice gold cage is befitting for what is a sophisticated, alluring scent.
Another designer expression of loving our true selves.
