Givenchy’s classic scent L’Interdit continues to stay relevant. The latest is another reinterpretation of that classic fragrance made exclusively for Audrey Hepburn. This time it’s limited and called Millésime. Editor Trudi Brewer shares this new scent.
GIVENCHY L'Interdit MillÉsime Eau De Parfum, Limited Edition, $105.
It’s possibly the most romantic fragrance story in history. When French fashion designer Hubert de Givenchy created his first fragrance in 1957, it was for his muse and friend, actress Audrey Hepburn. Named ‘Interdit,’ meaning ‘forbidden’ in French, this helped add mystery and demand. However, Hepburn, who wore the scent for decades, never wanted any other woman to wear it.
That fragrance was a floral aldehyde, a classic scent in those times; fast forward to today, and the latest reinterpretation is called ‘Millésime’ the name born from the world of wine, it means ‘vintage’ in English; this time, the fragrance is a modern citrus floral.
What’s in it?
The tangy bitter orange and ginger; are a beautiful blend. Then more orange; this time, it’s the sweet blossom blended with tuberose and neroli. But after a few hours, you get the warmth from almond milk, patchouli, vetiver and musk.
Why do we like it?
If you’re a floral-shy fragrance wearer, discovering this creamy amber-like scent may help change your mind. This luxurious perfume blends rich and soft aromas, so don’t be shy to spritz it on all over; it will envelop you in a lasting, orange-like floral hug, ideal for the chilly weather ahead.
Another designer expression of loving our true selves.
