Citrus-y and fresh, a rainbow prism that reflects perfect balance, is how I would describe the latest perfume from Maison Francis Kurkdjian. Our editor is swooning - read on to learn more.
What’s in it?
For Francis Kurkdjian, happiness lies in the simple things nature offers. The feeling of sunshine on your skin, the sky’s ever-changing hues, or a gentle breeze through your hair. His new citrus scent is the epitome of freshness, and the ingredients reflect that with energetic verbena and Italian bergamot, sweet fennel, and a floral synthetic called Hedione that smells of jasmine. Then the lasting aroma is a blend of woody musks.
Maison Francis Kurkdjian Aqua Media Cologne Forte EDP, 70ml, $339, 200ml $669.
Kurkdjian takes a unique approach when creating a fragrance. Most perfumers focus on the ingredients to tell a story, then comes the name, but his method is the opposite. “Throughout my career, my approach to the creative process has always remained the same,” he told the media at the launch. “I start by naming a fragrance that guides my road map for the story I am seeking to tell with a scent.” Aqua Media Cologne Forte is the fourth in the Cologne Forte collection; each is assigned a colour; this one is a luminous green inspired by the centre of a rainbow, which Kurkdjian considers the perfect mix of water and sunlight.
Why do I like it?
If happiness is a form of freedom, this fragrance will take you anywhere. I am fond of citrus perfumes; perhaps that’s because they make up some of the best-selling scents of all time. They have an aromatic quality and a unique freshness, which makes you feel alive and can be worn in any season. This newbie is an excellent combination of energising, fresh, and clean, don't be surprised if you garner daily compliments when wearing it - I can’t get enough of it.
