Despite having all the hallmarks of kitsch, sickly sweet, millennial perfume, the Moschino Toy 2 Bubble Gum is a pleasant surprise - a refined, exhilarating scent. It promises fun, fruit, and florals, but with the added hint of spice that provides a sophisticated edge, says editor Trudi Brewer. It’s every bit a fun, fruity, floral but there is also an unexpected hint of spice, which gives it a sophisticated edge. Moschino’s creative director Jeremy Scott is the brains behind this new Toy 2 Bubble Gum the third fragrance in the toy collection. Not only did he conceptualise the new scent he also handpicked the face of the campaign and shot the images and video. He told the media at the launch he wanted to create a fragrance inspired by the whimsical and playful spirit of bubble gum. Wearing a silver spacesuit, New Zealand model Stella Maxwell is the face of Moschino’s new Toy 2 Bubble Gum. Photographed by Jeremy Scott, Maxwell rocks a silver astronaut suit, embellished with a teddy bear and zippers. “I had a vision of the bottle flying through outer space like a rocket and from there I thought: ‘Wouldn’t it be fun to turn Stella into an astronaut, having her grab the bottle and spritzing herself in zero gravity?”, Scott told WWD. Asked why he chose Maxwell as the face, Scott said, “Stella has been a muse of mine for quite a long time and when I was conceptualising the campaign for the fragrance, I knew no one else would be able to bring this bubble gum pop feeling alive like her.”

Moschino Toy 2 Bubble Gum EDT, $138.
Ideal for floral, fruity fragrance lovers. Candied fruits, bitter orange and lemon get you excited from the first spritz. But it’s after a few minutes that the sweetness of this scent kicks in. Bubble gum, Bulgarian rose, blueberry, cinnamon, ginger and peach blossom offers instant sweetness, however, it’s once the musky blend of amber and cedar is revealed that your intrigue sets in. The formula is vegan, and the ingredients tick the sustainability trend hot in fragrance making right now. Approximately 80 per cent of the raw materials used are also biodegradable. As far as our style director goes, it’s everything she is looking for in a fun fragrance. The combination of the quirky teddy bear packaging, in bubble gum pink, Louise Hilsz says, “It’s perfect. But I would expect nothing less from Moschino.”
Moschino Toy 2 EDP, $155.
Woody, warm and floral, the first spritz is fresh, thanks to the blend of apple, mandarin orange and magnolia. A soft floral blend of white currant, peony and jasmine is super pretty, but why it lingers on the skin for hours is the blend of musk, amber wood and sandalwood.
Moschino Toy Boy EDP, $120.
And of course, there is a Toy Boy. A woody, spicy perfume thanks to the pink pepper, pear, Indonesian nutmeg, and bergamot. Softened by rose, musky magnolia, clove and flax; these ingredients are heightened by the warmth of Haitian vetiver, sandalwood and amber. While this is a men’s scent, it’s also got great sex appeal for women.
