Editor Trudi Brewer shares how to use this new PureMatch Liquid Concealer below.
What’s in it?
Today, women want clean cosmetics, but they also want makeup that does more than cover the skin. With all Jane Iredale makeup, it’s more a matter of what’s not in than a list of ingredients. So, first up, there are no nasties. This is natural makeup at its best. This latest formula is stacked with natural mica in a range of 16 shades that add a sheer cover to your complexion without leaving a cakey finish. Loaded with skin-nurturing ingredients, including prickly pear or (cactus extract), offers antioxidant protection while hydrating the skin simultaneously. While Indian dammar, olive oil and coconut boost firmness. Berry wax adds a protective barrier on the skin while locking in moisture, and levulinic acid extracted from rice helps to soften the skin. Finally, for anyone who suffers from breakouts or eczema, this concealer is perfect, thanks to the soothing neem tree extract.
How do you use it?
The range of diverse shades works hard to conceal imperfections and discolouration while doubling as a brightening and contouring colour. But unlike most concealers, this newbie can be used all over the face like foundation or skin primer. Here’s how I use it.
My speedy no-makeup-makuep look
Apply a few dots directly onto the skin where you need cover or brightening. The doe-foot applicator is brilliant for getting under the eyes or around the nose, those areas you want to conceal and then blend with your finger or a brush. I like to use my fingers at this stage because they warm the concealer, which makes it blend in seamlessly.
For brightening and lifting, under the eyes or in the corners of the eyes, choose a shade slightly lighter than your overall skin tone. For foundation benefits, go for a colour with the same tone as your skin. Or, for contouring, choose a shade slightly darker than your complexion to add definition; under the cheekbones is the best spot, then buff the colours together with a fluffy contouring brush.
Work quickly; when blending, this concealer is fast drying. It’s also budge-proof and seamless on the skin, lasting hours.
When selecting a colour online, the shade guide is simple. N stands for a ‘neutral’ skin tone, and W ‘warm’. The brand says the best way to determine your skin’s undertone is to look at the inside of your wrist. If your veins appear blue or deep purple, you likely have cool skin undertones and should choose an ‘N’ shade. If the veins have a greenish cast, go for the ‘W’ shade offering.
Finally, add some colour like blush and lip gloss.
