Tailor Gold Dust powder

I love the strategically placed highlighter or a touch of golden bronzer to give my skin that lit-from-within glow. But sadly, makeup washes off. So instead of creating that glow with makeup, brightening skincare will provide you with the complexion you dreamed about, especially if it's laden with vitamin C. The latest skin treatment on my desk is from the New Zealand brand Tailor, a powder charged with vitamin C and CoQ10. Read on to learn how it works and how it can slot into any skincare routine.

What is it?

Tailor Gold Dust is a pure blend of vitamin C and coenzyme Q10 (COQ10). If you have yet to incorporate a vitamin C product into your skin routine, allow me to convince you of its virtues. We don't naturally make vitamin C, but it plays a vital role in collagen synthesis, the very fibres that give the skin support and structure. It's also a potent antioxidant with epic brightening capabilities by blocking the pigment synthesis pathway, so say goodbye to those ageing brown spots. At the same time, COQ10 is a skin energiser. It is naturally produced by our bodies and found in every cell. But here's the kicker, both CoQ10's and vitamin C are potent antioxidants with plenty of legitimate scientific backing. Furthermore, both can shield your skin to combat all the things that contribute to ageing skin, such as UV radiation, Infrared radiation, and ozone pollution. Don't forget 80 per cent of skin ageing is from environmental damage.

How to use Gold Dust

So how much Gold Dust should you use? First, the brand suggests you need to listen to your skin. Start slow, maybe once a week, at night, and then increase applications. If your skin is sensitive, be cautious - this skin-brightening powder is potent. To activate the Gold Dust powder, mix a pinch of the powder with two Tailor Renew Probiotic Serum,$69, then apply to the face and neck. Make sure you mix the products together well before applying so the consistency isn’t gritty. The serum contains grape seed extract and vegan probiotic lysate, which strengthen the skin's barrier and help to reduce sensitivities. Finally, use at night for one week, and then have a to brighten skin break for three weeks immediately, and then repeat each month.

Why do I like it?

First up, I love vitamin C-infused skincare, so this powder was always going to get my attention. This powder is excellent for anyone concerned with sun-damaged skin, sensitivities, or dullness (I have all of that happening on my face). Vitamin C packs a bit of a sting and can feel drying, you need to follow up with a hydrating moisturiser that is soothing and hydrating. The best part? It's super effective, and I swear my skin gets brighter-looking by the day. Top tip: Gold Dust is not exclusively for your face, you can add a pinch to your body moisturiser, to give post-summer skin from the next down a brightening boost. Finally, Gold Dust comes in a compostable carton made from bagasse (buh-gas), a waste byproduct from sugarcane, with a reusable silver scoop. It's cruelty-free and made here in NZ - cheers to that.
