Moroccanoil has been at the forefront of healing and smoothing hair with Argan oil for decades. But their latest innovation is for the skin. Editor Trudi Brewer chats to the brand’s educator about why this new collection is a must-have in our beauty routines.
Jemy Dayrit is unstoppable in his mind, body, and spirit harmony quest. With a background in beauty, wellness, and the spa industry, he was instrumental in launching the Moroccanoil Body Collection.“Being attuned to our bodies means incorporating movement, massage, exercise, and meditation into our lives,” says Dayrit. Developing custom spa protocols (Moroccanoil spa treatments can be seen in top national and luxury cruise ships) and tailoring individual therapeutic sessions, Dayrit shares the benefits of this new luxurious body range and why Argan oil is a hair and skin saviour.
As hair experts, why have Moroccanoil created a body range?
Argan oil is at the heart of all Moroccanoil products; we have always had a passion for embracing Argan oil’s full benefits, so we expanded on this by creating an assortment of body products. A natural progression since Moroccanoil Treatment lovers have applied a little Moroccanoil Hair Treatment on their skin, being impressed by the feel and scent of the product.
Are all oils created equal when it comes to skin hydration?
Regarding skin hydration, the main focus is to utilise the occlusion method (forming a protective layer on the skin's surface, a barrier to prevent moisture loss) to avoid dryness. Considering this, all oils are not created equal since they may come in different forms. One concern with this hydration method is that some oils are too thick, and they sit on the skin and may feel heavy and greasy to the touch. On the other hand, Argan oil is rich in fatty acids that support the skin’s natural barrier and is easy to apply and absorbs into the skin, leaving a light dewy finish. Since Argan oil is the main ingredient in Moroccanoil’s Body Collection, it’s the perfect way to keep the skin hydrated and perfectly balanced.
MOROCCANOIL Night Body Serum, $108.
One of the top sellers in the new collection, an overnight smoothing and firming serum with antioxidant-rich argan and Tsubaki oil, holy basil and vitamin C.
What does Argan oil do for the skin?
Being incredibly rich in antioxidants, omega fatty acids, and tocopherols (vitamin E,) argan oil is the perfect addition to any skin regimen. Again, oil can act like the skin’s natural sebaceous oils to hydrate and protect it.
What are the top sellers in the range so far?
The Night Body Serum, Dry Body Oil, Body Soufflé and the Shower Gel, equally.
MOROCCANOIL Shimmering Body Oil. $83.
One of our faves in the collection to instantly brighten our dull winter skin is this shimmery blend of Argan and sesame oils with pearlescent mica minerals - it’s addictive.
Who can use the new body range?
Because a fragrance is incorporated within the Morocanoil Body Collection, it can be used by all ages except children.
Best tips on how to use those top sellers?
Those top-selling products are all moisturisers, except the Shower Gel. The Night Body Serum can be used anytime during the day but performs best when applied at night as absorption is enhanced during sleep.
