This is caused by an increased reactivity of sensory neurons and a decreased excitability threshold. She believes, the mechanisms involved remain an enigma, which is why hypersensitive skin is so unpredictable and tricky to treat. “Hypersensitive skin also has a skin barrier defect, which makes the diffusion of stimuli easier and thus increases their effects,” says Ortiz Brugues. TOLÈRANCE LOTION EXTREMELY GENTLE CLEANSER, $35
If your skin reacts to cleansers and you prefer micellar water, but find it’s not nourishing enough, this new lotion cleanser may become your BFF. It’s a waterless cleanser, so no rinsing is required, strengthening the skin’s barrier keeping moisture in and nasties out. This concentrated gel-like lotion swiftly removes makeup to leave the skin feeling clean, without that dry, tight feeling.
